Pre-Care Instructions
Maintain a healthy diet filled with rich nutrients and drink plenty of water. On the night of your surgery, do not eat or drink anything after midnight.
Avoid smoking, consuming tobacco products, or drinking alcohol. Use a gentle, fragrance-free soap to cleanse the surgical area.
Post-Care Instructions
Arrange for transportation to and from your appointment, as well as the next day for your follow-up visit. Take prescribed medication as directed. Contact Dr. Hunsicker immediately if you experience bleeding, nausea, or vomiting.
Avoid blowing your nose or putting pressure on the incision area for at least 2 weeks. Limit strenuous activity, such as exercise or lifting objects over 10 lbs.
Pat your incisions dry using sterile gauze pads.
Liquid rhinoplasty is a nonsurgical option to change the appearance of your nose using filler. During a surgical nose job, Dr. Hunsicker reduces or modifies underlying structures. With filler, we can increase the volume of your nose to change the silhouette. This can last up to 2 years.
There are two main reasons to consider a nose job: cosmetic and functional. Learn more about the most common reasons to see if rhinoplasty in Littleton, CO fits your needs.
Cosmetic: Nose surgery can reshape the nose to enhance balance and improve facial symmetry. Many patients consider nose surgery to reshape the bridge, tip, and nostrils to fit their individual preferences.
Function: Aside from personal preference, a nose surgery can correct poor nose function and improve breathing. Patients consider surgery to correct a deviated septum, enlarged turbinates, and nasal polyps.
Most patients experience facial swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes for a few days after surgery. There may be slight bleeding and drainage from the surgical site, which you can use gauze to absorb. To reduce pressure and swelling, it is important to keep your head elevated and limit physical activity.
Initial swelling will improve within a few weeks. It can take up to a year before the new nasal contour is fully defined. Most changes after rhinoplasty are permanent.
