Breast Lift Overview
Consultation
Your breast lift journey begins with a dedicated 60-minute consultation with Dr. Hunsicker.
During this time, she’ll review your medical history, discuss your aesthetic goals, and walk you through the surgical process. Dr. Hunsicker will verify that your mammogram is current and may request bloodwork to prepare for a safe and successful procedure. We’ll schedule your pre-op and surgery dates if a breast lift is the right fit for you.
Pre-Op
Your preoperative visit will take place about 2 weeks before your procedure.
Dr. Hunsicker will finalize your surgical plan, review your health details, and have you sign consent forms. Before leaving, you’ll receive a care package, including a green smoothie recipe, protein drinks, probiotics, scar cream, and Hibiclens surgical scrub to help support healing.
Surgery & Follow-Up
On the day of your breast lift, plan to arrive 2 hours early to allow time for check-in.
After your procedure, we’ll prescribe post-op medications and antibiotics to support your recovery. Dr. Hunsicker will check in with you the next day to monitor progress and address any early concerns. Follow-up visits are scheduled at 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 6 months, and 1 year to help you feel supported as you heal.

Pre-Care Instructions
To help your body prepare for surgery, we offer a green smoothie recipe and protein drinks packed with essential nutrients. Proper nutrition can make a difference in your overall surgical experience and recovery.
Create a recovery space at home, using pillows to keep your chest comfortably elevated and reduce strain. Take time off from work and limit daily activities to give your body the opportunity to heal.
Post-Care Instructions
Arrange transportation both on the day of your procedure and for your next-day follow-up appointment. The numbing medication may keep you comfortable for up to 72 hours. If you experience bleeding, nausea, or vomiting, contact Dr. Hunsicker immediately.
Avoid lifting, pushing, or pulling anything over 10 lbs for at least 6 weeks. Excess strain can interfere with healing. You should also avoid raising your arms above shoulder height or sleeping on your stomach or sides.
Recovery takes time. It’s common to notice bruising, swelling, or a temporarily elevated breast position. As your body heals, the swelling will subside, and your breasts will settle into place. Be sure to attend all follow-up visits to monitor progress and support a healthy recovery.
Breast lift surgery, also called a mastopexy, lifts sagging breasts and removes stretched skin. You may be a candidate for breast lift surgery if your breasts have lost their natural firmness after pregnancy, nursing, substantial weight loss, or aging. A breast lift may also help reduce enlarged areolas.
We can combine a breast lift in Littleton, CO, with breast augmentation surgery. We also offer surgery for women who desire more shapely breasts without increased size. A breast lift is an inherent part of breast reduction surgery.
Dr. Hunsicker usually administers IV sedation. Depending on the extent and desired results of your breast lift, the procedure can cause pain to fluctuate if we use a localized anesthetic. IV sedation keeps the procedure efficient and helps patients feel at ease and comfortable.
A breast lift can treat the following:
- Sagging breasts
- Nipples and areolas that point downward
- Breasts with a flat, elongated shape
- Stretched skin and enlarged areolas
